wow.

April 17, 2009

today, people played till they cried. i was holding back my tears. how often do you cry while making music?

it's alright

April 03, 2009

so we might not have gotten a gold but a silver is fine.. i choose to believe that our silver is very shiny.. at the end of it all, it's really the journey and experience that really matters.. lots of tears were shed on that day and even the day after but almost all of us are fine now. except those who are pissed because of what the stupid teacher who knows nuts about music said.. it definitely feels odd not going to school at 6.45am everyday to practice and not having something to look forward to in band.. oh well.. time to catch up on all my terribly overdue homework..

whoever said birthdays were special?

March 09, 2009

so i turn 15 today and IT IS the worst birthday ever. the crappiest things have been happening all at once.

my grandmother passed away because of cancer. she lived for 2 years without a whole stomach.

because of that, i was forced to sell away my Jason Mraz concert tickets and i've been looking forward to this concert since i heard he was coming. i was so bummed i cried 3 times in 2 days because of this.

i was not allowed to go for band exchange either. its my only band exchange that i'll ever be involved in in my whole life. great....

woke up this morning and my mom didn't even bother that it's my birthday.. at least my friends actually cared. when i got home with a present, my mom actually said "oh! its your birthday right?". wtf.

my dad refused to buy the current iphone for me. he says he'll buy the new generation one for me instead. i wasn't born yesterday, like i'll let myself believe what you say.

i missed so many lessons. i can't catch up with A. Math and i flunked it by getting 9/50. i hate math. my hatred for math hasn't died down at all since i was nine. whoops.

my mom decided to black mark my name by telling straight to my form teacher's face that my physics teacher can't teach without realising he IS my physics teacher and he called me in class twice today just to ask if i understood what he was talking about.

i went to shower just now and realised there was a beetle on my towel only after i finished showering.. i had to wear my clothes while i was soaking wet.

i spent my birthday by going to school, going for CCA coming home and sleeping, then having dinner while watching a hannah montana rerun and showering with a beetle after that.

on the upside, i managed to pass english. only 7 people in my class passed. and i've got this cute bear, the only present i received today. and.. i don't see anymore upsides...

i'll make sure the next post is a happier one.

oh, i think the chemistry teacher who set the test paper is a click fan because there were only 2 questions which had names in it and the 2 names happen to be Ben and Joe... or maybe it was just a coincidence..

OMG IT'S FALL OUT BOY

February 10, 2009

This concert is definitely going on "My favourite concerts ever" list. I got so excited in school this morning that i couldn't concentrate in class and didn't know what the hell was going on during math lesson, but i don't care.

The concert itself was FREAKING AWESOME. in fact, its like an understatement. Hey Monday was ok i guess, not that big a fan of Cassadee's voice. Fall Out Boy's the only reason i went.

I thought Pete Wentz was going to die when he jumped into the crowd but he didn't... his pants just dropped halfway down his butt. whoops.

To make the concert more awesome, I GOT PETE WENTZ'S GUITAR PICK!!!!!!!! well, i didn't catch it or anything but we asked the usher to pick it up for us and he did. then at the end of the concert, we decided it was only polite to say thank you to him. We walked over and thanked him, then the manager or someone of that sort of FOB heard us thanking him and he gave us the SETLIST OF THE CONCERT.

So everybody should start saying "thank you", its not that difficult and who knows what you'll get from it. ;)

I'm still super excited and my ears are still ringing from standing next to the amps/speakers.

CNY + Photobooth

January 26, 2009

first of all, Happy Chinese/Lunar New Year to everyone who celebrates it! Visited 3 houses today, collected loads of angpaos and ate too much food. The food and angpaos are the best part of CNY.. and the new clothes too. :) Played blackjack with my uncle/cousins/dad + sister using my mom's money and won quite a bit. It's what i do every year, "help" my mom play then keep the winnings after that. whoops.

i just took about a hundred pictures on photobooth with my sister. it all started with us trying to take a picture of our matching cow pjs. i laughed so hard my lower jaw started shaking on its own and mucus/water started coming out of my nose.

all i need is time

January 18, 2009

I NEED MORE TIME. there's not enough time. can we have more hours in a day?

for some reason i'm listening to the beatles and typing here in this desperate need of time.

my first day of UPPER secondary life.

January 04, 2009

- i couldn't understand more than half of what the chinese teacher was talking about.

- i fell asleep in geog class because the teacher couldn't stop yakking and yakking for over an hour.

- i think i'll die in PE because my PE teacher is the scariest teacher you can find in school and she makes people throw up during PE.

- two DMs are teaching my class. whoops, looks like its time to unfold the skirt and pull the socks up.

- i hate my new class.

- i decided not to finish my english holiday homework because my english teacher never scolds people.

- i "toured" the school for over an hour just to escape foot drills.

- i realised that i'm the only sec 3 in 2nd flutes hence will be taking over Flute 2s in half a year. the thought of that makes me wanna puke.

problems.

December 27, 2008

loads of things going on now.

problem 1 - my mom, sister and i are having a war with my dad over some stupid sd card/battery charger thing. and he got mad when i told him not to "bug" me but he thought i said "bark at" him. i really cant stand him walking in and out of my room for no reason, just to check on what im doing, stare at my things like im hiding something.. well i am. he doesnt know i bought myself the new macbook pro. he doesnt support apple products.. now nobody wants to talk to him..

problem 2 - my sister keeps saying she wants to go to london to study and my dad's not too keen on that either. we're not THAT rich or THAT poor but i think now's not the right time to go over. although i would very much love it if she goes to london cause that means i'll get to visit her (never been out of asia if you consider australia as asia).

problem 3 - my grandma's health is not getting any better. she might just go anytime. she said that if she could, she'd just go already. she's in a lot of pain because the cancer cells spread. she can't even eat properly. i hope she makes it for lunar new year. and then my mom's having a hard time with my aunt who's clearly not willing to fork out money if anything happens to my grandma. i've never lost a family member(that i actually talk to) before. im scared.

problem 4 - i seriously need help with my chinese. im not even taking higher chinese and i can actually fail. i couldn't understand more than half of what my chinese homework is talking about.i dont want to go back to that annoying tuition centre which didnt help at all. i think being bad in chinese runs in the family. clearly none of my grandfather's very-good-chinese blood passed on to us(my sister and i).

problem 5 - school is starting next friday and i havent completed my homework. why do we even get homework? its the holidays. gah.

a christmas treat

December 23, 2008

my friend and i baked brownies today. we're gonna go around to "deliver" the brownies straight to our friends' doorsteps. its gonna be fun.

i was going to bake TOL brownies but the last batch of brownies got really burnt and they were rock hard. it tasted like bitter biscuits. so we had to throw them all away.

anyways, Merry (early) Christmas to everyone!

i won't die from swallowing live ants.

December 20, 2008

i drank from an ant-infested can of green tea and i only realised it when i finished it. i left it on the table for just a few hours and it got infested with ants. i might have some live ants inside me somewhere now. i ate a mini tolberone to "wash" down the ants but then i realised that its chocolate, and its sweet. oh well, since people eat fried bugs in other countries, a few live ants won't kill.

i sat at the bus stop today with the blazing hot sun shining right on me. its the kind of heat that won't make people sweat. i love it. my mom called me crazy. it felt so good, much better than the air-conditioning on the bus. i'm pretty thankful for living in a country with summer all year round. but then we never get to see any snow. one of the things that i wanna do before i die is to spend christmas in a country which is snowing. maybe spend the day at disneyland or something too. i've never been to a disneyland before. come to think of it, i haven't done a lot of things before. hmmm.

there's still slightly lesser than 2 weeks till school starts and i'm actually doing my homework. i usually only start on it 3 days before school reopens. i'm actually starting to panic too, i think that's a good sign that i might be a wee bit more hardworking next year.

FOB?

December 14, 2008

apparently they're performing at two places on the same night and time.. or not.. some sites say that its at max pavillion and some states singapore indoor stadium. i think its at the indoor stadium. i hope it is.

title?

December 10, 2008

i should seriously be reading pride and prejudice/the kite runner right now but instead i'm "analysing" twilight over and over again, trying to pick out the differences between the book and the movie.

twilight is now pg with some violence.. yes. no more nc16. it had no reason to be nc16 anyway.

i wanna go for FOB. apparently my sister doesn't wanna go because its at max pavillion, one of the suckiest places to hold a concert besides fort canning park and none of my friends are really that into FOB. i already missed their concert once a few years back and i don't wanna miss this one too. urgh.

my first public concert on saturday, i'm so excited, it's gonna be fun.

WHAT

December 02, 2008

why is twilight nc16 in singapore?! this is retarded. I'm sneaking in. its only gonna be out on dec 18. i've got plenty of time to think of ways to sneak in.

gold in genting

November 28, 2008

i just got back from genting highlands which is where we went for a band competition. We worked our butts off for this and it certainly didnt go to a waste. We achieved a gold award and emerged 2nd. This might only be a small competition with 14 bands, but we really did work hard for this. Without all the mistakes we made, its the best we've played our pieces. I believe everyone was focused and determined during that performance cause we only get one chance.

I can't help but replay the moment where we saw "gold" on the projector. Everyone jumped up from our chairs and started screaming. Some even cried, i almost did, but i didnt. We expected to get a silver because there were some major mistakes which were obvious. Maybe that's what made us even happier. We were supposed to assemble at the lobby and almost everyone had "gold" written on their arm in lipstick.

There were times when people started getting annoyed or angry and teachers also got angry, but people do make mistakes and we will learn from them.

This is our first gold ever(we've only been around for 8 years or so) and also my first competition with the band. Now, all we need to do is aim for that gold in SYF or even GWH, and put up our best concert ever on dec 13.

title..

November 21, 2008

i dont know what to title my blog...

anyway, peranakan food is AWESOME. i need to find a good peranakan restaurant in singapore! i didnt get to eat chicken rice balls though. heard it's supposed to be good.

the malacca trip was rather fun.. not because of the museums and marathon-like walk for 4 hours, but because of the class. it was our last time being 2E together and i think it was pretty well spent. :) i remember how i used to hate 2E but slowly grew to like it. it was fun on the second day where all of us wore our class tees. we were probably the only class that had everyone wearing it.

i will remember the cheng ho museum for as long as i live. everyone was so tired from a whole day of "touring" and it was 8pm when we reached the museum. we were all sweaty/dirty/smelly.. and i was "floating" around the museum. it looks really small, but it's damn big.

when we reached the hotel at 10, everyone was doing "rituals" before stepping into the hotel rooms. like ringing the doorbell, knocking on the door, talking to whoever is inside the room before stepping in with our left foot. it was probably only an hour later that there was chaos. people were screaming and running from room to room. girls were'nt allowed in guys rooms(and vice versa) but no one seemed to care... people started calling other people's rooms and burping into the phone... my friend and i were bored so we decided to explore the hotel.. we went to the 9th floor which is where the swimming pool is supposed to be.. neither of us expected the lift doors to open to some pitch black level where we couldnt see anything... that was scary.

the kampong walk was pretty fun, though it was tiring. we saw cute kampong chickens running around. we made our own batik which was interesting. then there was rubber tapping.. mosquitoes flying everywhere. almost everyone got bitten but i didnt. thank goodness. then there was silat and top spinning. the top spinning looked pretty fun but i didnt try it. we made ketupats(?) after that.. i got lost after the first step. then we played congkak(?) congklak (?). i know it as mancala on the internet...

so that was my malacca trip. it's a long post. i think most people have fallen asleep by now.

genting on mondaaaaaaay! yes! so excited. can't wait to find out what will happen to me when i walk to school and climb up the stairs with a luggage, a bag and my instrument.

im going for disney live tonight! yay. i feel like a five year old kid.. not that fourteen is old anyway. i love disney classics! :)

malaysia

November 16, 2008

i havent been to malaysia since june 2001(that was my first time ever). and i only went to cameron highlands. which was.. pretty bad. but im excited to see what malaysia is like. i feel silly saying this considering the fact that malaysia is so near to singapore.

i'm leaving for a 2day geog/history trip to malacca tomorrow! i gotta admit, after reading the itinerary, it does sound pretty interesting. and there's peranakan food, heard that it's really good. shall try it for myself. :) we also get to make rubber sheets, batik and ketupat casings (what's a casing?).

then, about a week from now, i'll be going to genting! yessss! im really excited about that. even though its for a band trip, we'll have loads of free time. roller coasters here i come! does anyone know if the genting cinema will show twilight on 27th november? i heard it comes out in malaysia then. since it only comes out in singapore on 18th december....

we're supposed to be in school by 6.15AM. i have this terrible feeling i wouldn't wake up if i fall asleep.

help + rihanna

November 15, 2008

how can i tell my section mates nicely that i dont wanna buy a section hoodie that i will probably burn after the competition? they dont seem to get the hint.

ok so i went for rihanna's concert on thursday. it was pretty cool but the beginning was totally screwed. there was no sound from her mic the whole time the first song, which was disturbia, was playing. then she changed to a different mic for the next two songs or so and my ears were screaming in pain (at least if they could, they would). but she eventually changed back and it was fine after that. i totally forgot she still had "umbrella" to sing. proves how big a rihanna fan i am. whoops.

uh..

November 07, 2008

i forgot my sister's birthday for the second time this week and its tomorrow. shit.

한국

November 03, 2008

so im back home, finally. i think i've got over some fears in this trip. well, im not scared of airplanes anymore, i thought it was quite boring without turbulence.. and i watched dora the explorer on repeat...

after that weird sinbad boat ride at the themepark, i am now willing to go on a roller coaster. im hoping i get to go on one in genting.

so, korea was fun, the food was.. interesting, again. we had lunch with 30 dishes, all of which were cold except 4. kimchi was.. not really that nice and not really that terrible either. i really admire how koreans can eat cold food without getting stomachache.

i think staying in the korean resort is more fun than staying in hotels. we didnt get to stay in a resort this time. i was so looking forward to sleeping on the warm floor... oh well..

my favourite place in the whole trip is still the jeju teddy bear museum. the bears are so cute, i'll stay in there for a whole day if i had more time.

elvis?

marilyn monroe

the beatles

there was this mountain near gyeongbokgung palace that's supposed to look like a dragon.

i think it looks like a gorilla. yes?

the kimchi i made that's gonna be donated to an orphanage.. hopefully it'll taste fine..

Airplanes

October 26, 2008

So i'm going to korea in about 5 hours. I'm not exactly fond of airplanes. I mean, they're high up in the sky and can crash anytime.

I woke up in the middle of the night and started freaking out because i'm gonna have to take an airplane. Don't get me wrong, i love going overseas because Singapore gets boring after like a week.

Oh well, i'm sure this trip to korea will be better than the first. I'm mentally prepared for the food there, plus, it's gonna be my first time experiencing autumn. :)

i hope png doesnt scold us when i get back. i have a bad feeling what happened yesterday was just the beginning.

Why

October 23, 2008

I'm missing 2 of the 3 most exciting concerts that's gonna happen to Singapore in November. I really wanna go for Kanye West and Kylie Minogue... Kanye's concert is supposedly good, as i've heard and i don't think Kylie's gonna come to Singapore again. Urgh. Well, at least i'll still be able to make it for Rihanna's concert.

Beach cleaning today! :) It was fun but my legs are aching from squatting and standing repeatedly. I never knew the beach was so dirty. Found many lollipop sticks and torn up styrofoam boxes. My friends found some erm.. obscene stuff. Nevermind.. I shall not litter at the beach. Not that i go there very often anyway, but its hard work cleaning. It wasn't even clean after 360 people were there picking up trash.

YES, the latest THTV video doesn't appear to be "not available in your country".

Hello

October 22, 2008

Since i'm new here, let me introduce myself.

My name is Amelia and i'm 14 this year. I live for music and i'm a band geek, as people would say. It's really not that geeky actually, it's kinda fun... and i love it. :)

I enjoy attending concerts, musicals... well, anything live..

There's really nothing much to introduce since nothing particularly interesting has happened to me... at least not that i can remember. whoops.

I support the American Cancer Society because my grandmother is suffering from cancer. She has survived for over a year now.. even though we were told there was a high possibility she wouldn't make it past six months.

....

Tomorrow's the last day of school for the rest of the year! I'm gonna miss my class even though we're not THAT bonded. At least we had fun these 2 years that we've been stuck together.

Anyway, we got our subject combinations today and i got "history". If my appeal doesn't work, i'm gonna die for the next 2 years. If you'd excuse me, i think i'm gonna freak out now. :O

one more thing, thank you cassie. :)
