On a bus

July 09, 2009

It's 8:15 in the morning and we are on a bus to NYC.  Yuck.

Been up since about 5:30, yuck.

So we're going to meet with a potential producer for our full-length we'll be recording this fall/winter.

Needless to say we're pretty stoked (even though the rest of the guys are passed out right now).

Our debut EP is being released in 3 WEEKS.  omgomgomgomgomgomg.  I'm closing my eys.

See you on the flip.

Debut EP due out this month!

July 06, 2009

So.

We've finished up all the pieces for the EP due this month.  Mixing, mastering, artwork, blah blah blah blah we are EXCITED!!

The EP is titled "Welcome to Gentlemen Hall".  Yeah? Yeah?  We think you'll enjoy it.  Your favorite tracks (ever) on one neat, little compact disc (or you can go to itunes, amazon, whatever).  So keep your eyes open in the coming weeks for our album debut!

In other news, GH has been out seeing the world recently.  We're taking a trip down to NYC this weekend to meet with potential producers for the full-length we plan to record later this year.

The music video for Put This Fire Out is almost done, we're going to meet with director David McBride - Mr. Billie Productions this week to take a look at the final cut, can't wait to share with you!

Catch you soon.

Gentlemen Hall "Real" Facts

June 21, 2009

The title says it all.  Here are some of GH's less-known "real" habits and quirks:

- Brad can't turn down food

- The original lineup of the band consisted of Gavin, Brad and Ro.  They never played a gig before the addition of the remaining members, but did spend a lot of time strategizing the band's future over games of Risk in Vermont.  In addition, they originally played trumpet, sax and oboe respectively.

- Jake has opposable big toes

- Seth fakes injuries on the court when he's playing crummy basketball

- Gentlemen Hall has a signature smoothie named after them in the Newbury St., Boston Ben & Jerry's GO BUY ONE - sales support the Community Music Center of Boston

- Phil is an architecture dork and considers creating floor plans of friends' houses and watching the Architecture Construction Materials Channel a great way to unwind on weekends

- At 5 years old, Gavin was a cover model for a Sears fall catalogue of children's clothing amongst 4 other kids.  According to his parents he was the only one who cried every time the flash one the camera was "too bwight"

- Ro was born in India, moved to Czechoslovakia at 2, America at 4, Canada from 7-10 and divides his time now between the States and

- Gentlemen Hall started out as a Pop band for a Japanese Label

- Gentlemen Hall wrestling match injuries have included atomic wedgies and bruised ribs.

Dig it.

Dunk it!

May 06, 2009

Today is the first day of the rest of my life. Day one of training for the 2009 slam dunk competition.  Hello, My name is Seth. I am the 1st chair flute player for Gentlemen Hall.  Our bass player Ro and I decided yesterday to challenge each other to a slam dunk competition when the Celtics defeated the Bulls.  Rory is 6'1" and can barely touch the net while I am 6' and cant jump at all (gravitationally challenged).  Both of us are fully aware that white man "can't jump".  The band optimistically estimates that at least one of the two of us will be able to dunk on a ten foot hoop in about 2-4 months.  By the way, when the skills are up to par, this is something we plan on incorporating into our live show.. dunking with windmills, alley oops, and reverse slamalamadingdongs. In the meantime I'll see you on the b-ball court. HE'S HEATING UP!!!
