I was working on the set for a Paste Magazine TV pilot for their possible show, "Pop Goes the Culture".

I happened to be wearing my One Love Shirt, so I made sure to get a picture or two.

As I promised, this is me driving in the UK.

It's pretty self-explainitory.

Isaac in Scotland [part 4]

March 15, 2009

I guess I should have started naming these "Isaac in the UK" because here I am in Scotland after climbing a mountain [or as local people call it; a hill] but I like to call it a mountain when I phone my mom and tell her how proud she should be of her son climbing big mountains and such.

Well lucky for the OneLove.org I have very little hygiene and I wore the OneLove shirt for like three or four days, so when the opportunity for a picture of me and Scotland I happened to be wearing my awesome OneLove shirt.

Isaac in Scotland

So sorry I haven't been keeping up on these, the internet in the UK is about as consistent as their food. But I am editing a video of me driving on the wrong side of the road and everything!

all the best,

Isaac and England [part 3]

March 05, 2009

So in certain places you have to pay about 50 American cents to use the bathroom, toilet or luu as some like to call it.

I really had to go and you think after paying money to use the bathroom it would be clean or something, but nope, I still had to go to each stall and pick the one I liked the best. But after paying money to use the luu I decided to wash my hands to get my monies worth.

So this may be a good time to explain the Ultra Violet Sound situation. I am on tour in the UK with a band called Ultra Violet Sound. I got here Saturday and they flew in on Sunday, they got rejected at the border and had to fly back home immediately after arriving for the lack of work permits. I was going to be rejected for the same thing but I was super nice to the lady before this topic of papers even came up. Neither I or the band knew that we needed these papers. So right now I am on the bus with the other bands that I haven't met before and I certainly feel like the tour's nerd friend that the tour's mom made them invite. I would say I am pretty good at connecting with people and fitting in quickly but this is a tough group, we are all polite to each other but unfortunately I don't see many friendships forming, not until UVS gets here at least. I did make a few friends though.

I moved to Atlanta about four weeks before I left for this tour, that was the very first time I have ever moved in my life and I just was starting to make friends in Atlanta then I had to leave for Europe.

So what I learned today is that if you move out of your very first and only home that you grew up in, and start feeling homesick, leaving the country to tour doesn't help the homesickness.

your friend,

-Isaac

Isaac and England [part 2]

March 04, 2009

So I walked to my favorite store [the only store] nearby, the BP, and got to walk in this time. So I ordered the healthiest looking breakfast meals that you can buy at a gas station, which included a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, sausage roll and a blueberry muffin.

Instantly I regretted getting the sausage roll, which tasted awful, then the bacon in the other sandwich was very discomforting [because bacon is normally a very comforting {for the human, not the pig}]. After eating the burger yesterday and the sausage and bacon today, I am beginning to think bad meat is an British thing. It could be because our meat is so processed and fake that when I taste a pure un-processed meat I gag [hopefully it's not the other way around, that their meat is more processed than ours {if possible}]

Maybe their teeth is a result of their horrible meat?

But after eating those items, I look down at my blueberry muffin and think, "you can't screw up a muffin". After the first taste I realized that is the truth. I think even the Bible says "you can't screw up a muffin" [and if it doesn't say it maybe we could add that line of truth and wisdom].

Regardless, when traveling abroad on an empty stomach, remember one thing. Get the muffin.

-Isaac

Isaac and England [part 1]

March 03, 2009

Day One

When I first arrived to England, my first thought was, "Man I have forgotten that they really do have bad teeth". I have heard once before that the English think it's disgusting that we show our teeth when we smile. I now understand why they would think that, it's not us, it's them.

For those that don't know, I am currently in England, on tour with Ultra Violet Sound. I plan to write a lot of blogs of my journey and this is my first installment.

So I arrived at my hotel which is extremely far from any sort of food, mall or entertainment, and internet is about $15 US dollars for a day, so I am writing this and posting it later [when England gets less stingy with their internet]. So I ate a burger and chips [chips=fries], and I think any time you travel outside of your homeland and see anything different, unusual or bad you automatically assume it's a normal thing in the country you are in. For example, I had a terrible hamburger and I thought, "well I guess it's just a England thing" when it could have been just a bad burger [possibly with Mad Cow Disease]. They gave me BBQ sauce instead of ketchup for my chips and I assumed that is how their ketchup tasted, but it was just their accident. I am sure if they gave me a chicken sandwich instead I would just assume that the burgers 'taste like chicken' in England. So with this mindset, there is very little room to complain, because you are unsure of what is an honest mistake and what is normal to them.

I walked to a BP gas station to buy some food at the "24 hour shopping" section of the gas station, and turns out by 24 hour shopping they mean, 'you have to talk to a guy at the window and guide the employee throughout the store trying to explain to him what a skittle is. When he was pointing to the Hob Nobs and other English treats, I felt like I was on "The Price is Right" yelling, "higher! lower!" to direct him to the treat of my choice.

For anyone traveling to England anytime soon, remember this, the bigger the coin, the more worthless it is, the small tiny thick coins are worth most. The penny's here are the size of half dollars [or dinner plates].

-Isaac

Sorry Aarons, it's just the truth.

January 07, 2009

Does anyone actually have a best friend named Aaron? Sure we all may know a few Aarons but do we call them much?

Seriously, maybe Aarons shouldn't get the top of the list on everyone's cell phone contacts. We love you Aarons, but let's be honest you guys get more drunk calls than real calls.

I call my friend Roy more than I call Aaron.

The last time I called one of the Aaron contacts, it was a misdial.

Spell your names differently or be more interesting to talk to on the phone.

maybe that is harsh?

I hope these limes don't turn sour

November 26, 2008

A lime truck near my house crashed and limes went every where, so the neighborhood, including my parents, decided they needed several bags of limes.

I am still not sure what a family can do with several bags of limes, in fact I cannot think of a fruit with less uses than a lime.

When life gives you limes...

...learn to juggle, cause there is not much else you can do.

THis may start discussion

November 18, 2008

I think this is one of the funniest/most accurate pictures I have seen in a long time: Mad Magazines salute to Family Guy, the most original animated series.

genius.

One time I was talking to a guy I know, and he said, "I hate simpsons, because I don't like the charecter homer of a over-weigh stupid gu y that drinks beer, but I love family guy"

I am not sure if he heard what he said while talking.

your friend,

-Isaac

That really is what she said!

November 07, 2008

So yesterday I heard "that's what she said" in a real conversation.

When I heard it I was prepared to be offended as I tried to figure out what she said or meant.

A guy was talking about how his brother has 15 children. Somebody suggested it would probably be easier to homeschool than to get all 15 kids ready for school each day and then the sister-in-law replied, "that's what she said" referring to the mother of these children.

I was trying to figure out if it was another really unfunny joke or if she really did say it, and for the first time ever, I laughed after hearing "that is what she said" because it wasn't referring to some prostitute that says a lot of things.

My Happy Birthday One Love VIDEO!

October 09, 2008

Even though I am a videographer professionally I just realized that I am probably the last person to figure out how to post videos on this site.

Here is the video I tried to post in my last Happy Birthday message.

But I finally worked up some more courage than that kid and made a very awkward video for the one Love! Here is it, all four minutes of it: your friend, -Isaac

Search for Joy: Kenya

August 04, 2008

My apologies go to any of you awesome supporters of the one love, every time I want to write something I am far from a computer and when I am near a computer I am far from idle.

For the very few that know who I am, I make the Really Real Shows for Family Force 5, and I am mostly known as 'Tub-O'. If you know that much you may have already heard that I have decided to move on from touring with bands and start doing some world touring.

I think the 'One Love' is a very appropriate site to announce this because of the sites mission and purpose.

I left the band [and most of the music industry] to take on the film industry.

For over two years now I have been hoping to make Comedy Documentaries on poverty, showing that you don't need money to laugh and that there certainly is, Joy in the midst of poverty.

Angelina Jolie said that she used to cut herself and wallow in depression until she saw how people lived and loved with nothing. She then saw that if you have everything but lack Joy, it's meaningless. Since then she has never intentionally hurt herself.

I think sometimes us Americans have been lied to, we have saw nothing but commercials with children with bloated stomachs, tears in their eyes and flies around them and began to think "the only difference between them and myself is money, so money must buy happiness".

Though there are loads of things in this world that cannot [nor should not] be ignored, like starvation, disease, famine and sex slavery to say a few, we shouldn't ignore the fact that people in other countries do not and cannot hide behind their money. They face problems head on, they are forced into community, they depend and love each other.

These sides of poverty and dependancy are sides that I would like to show in my series, "Search for Joy". I want to show that though there are hard times, I am not denying that, they is also joy.

Another thing I would like to show is that there is joy in serving. I've grown up thinking that if I was called to be a missionary overseas it's all malaria and suffering, but loving others is where we find that joy.

I recently returned from Kenya, Africa to film the first of hopefully many, "Search for Joy" and I am very excited to start editing because I think there are some very hilarious things from me helping them cook goat to playing soccer in a feces infested field.

I will certainly be excited to keep you updated on everything. I hope to tour it soon as well.

thanks for all your love and support. It means a lot.

your friend,

-Isaac

Warped Tour and some minor preparations.

June 18, 2008

Man it sure is quiet.

I am in the Family Force 5 bus and they guys had to fly to a festival so I have been hear riding to the first warped tour date in California.

Warped tour. The hardest working tour in the world.

Last year every article of clothing I wore, I either haven't wore before or haven't wore in a long time.

Hat, Sunglasses, A-Shirt [also known as wife beater, or muscle shirt, but since I neither have a wife or muscles, we will call it by it's really name {though I wouldn't beat my wife even if I did have one}], shorts, flip flops.

before then I never was known to wear any of those.

Warped drives you to a level to do things you never desired to before.

Like shower more than once a week.

So for this warped I am working-out with Chap-Stique and Crouton [guitarist and drummer] so I have muscles so I may walk around without a shirt.

Also trying to get some tan.

I am so white you can see me from space.

Tan, check.

Muscles, check.

Tolerance towards dancing in sweat suits in the sun, check [almost]

But if anyone is planning on going to warped, I think I may be sitting in a patch of grass, field, area where I can just sit and enjoy life. If anyone sees me doing so I am hoping for people to join me and we can share a laugh, story or whatever else.

Sorry this blog is so random.

15-Passenger Van Become Envy of Easter Sunday

March 24, 2008

So I had to pick up the guys in Family Force 5 from the airport in the 15-passenger van.

one single guy driving a 15 passenger van = attractive.

I was driving this beast on easter so I passed a family of seven crammed in a caravan, and for the first time in the history of 15 passenger vans, I believe those people were envious of my ride.

That van was as tight as their easter suits.

I don't think people envy 15 passenger vans often, except those indie kids in their tight girl pants.

I heard that girl pants are now the "new thing" for guys to wear.

but nobody told me, that 'apple bottoms' weren't cool.

Does anybody want to buy a wardrobe of pants?

...stupid return policies.

But seriously, right now we are all in Atlanta, they are recording the new album and I am making all the deleted scenes and special features for the Really Real Show DVD

Also,

today I checked my email and guess who emailed me?

none other than the Sammy Stephens of Montgomery, Alabama and Really Real Show #12.

And I am not sure exactly why I love watching this, but I am trying to get this as my cell phone background, if anyone knows how let me know.

Since i am back with the guys I will be keeping you all updated with things.

Abra-Cadabra!!!

January 02, 2008

Magicians use a term called "slight of hand", in which they way their hands move they cause you to get distracted by one hand, while the other is doing something very important to the trick.

If we learned to follow the less flashy hand you can figure out a majority of tricks.

I think to many Christians set their eyes on the 'flashy' role models. We are paying attention to the people that call attention to themselves, when we should be learning from the humble servants.

To many times do I see so many kids faith fall apart when they see their favorite Christian celebrity, athlete or band member 'messing up'.

I don't know what troubles me more: Seeing such huge role models not realize their influence or seeing so many kids find their influence in someone because they are good at playing an instrument or sport.

Either way it happens to often.

You know what is sad? There is someone you know personally, as a friend, a family friend, someone that goes to your church, or someone you work with that you can learn tremendous amounts from.

You might see someone everyday that is on his way to volunteering help feed the homeless, or someone that is working two jobs so there second paycheck can free sex slaves in India.

And you fail to hear what they can teach you because you are listening to your ipod with 'semi-inspiring' lyrics.

We are watching the hand that is doing nothing for God/People only because it is calling more attention to itself while the other hand is doing the most important things we can learn.

Are your role models seeking fame, or seeking more of an opportunity to serve more people?

The Pharisees prayed publicly, gave to the poor so all could see, did everything with the intent for people to think they are great people.

Biblically look at everything the Pharisees did, and realize that there are too many people just like that today. If you look at what they did, we would also think they were amazing. Because they knew their scriptures, they went to church every time they could, they obeyed the laws of God strictly. The only reason have a problem with them is because Jesus did.
Search really long in the Bible and ask yourself, "then what did God/Jesus want of us?"

"the greatest among you will be your servant" -Jesus (He meant it because that's what He came to the world to do.

Don't follow the hand that wants you to follow it.
Follow the hand that humbly does it's job.

your friend,

-Isaac

God and Pepsi

November 19, 2007

Eventually I hope that you realize that you can learn about God through anything, why do we think that these two don't go together.

We possibly could look at Diet Pepsi and ask ourselves if we are treating Jesus any different.

We will order 2 big macs and a super sized fry and get a diet pepsi as if it's going to make everything better.

But really it's not just accepting the diet beverege, it's ALSO living your life to match your desires to stay healthy.

We need to also engage in the action of excercise.

Sound famliar?

We sin as much as we want, and ask Jesus to forgive our sins, then still order the same thing!

Lets make our every action match the reason we drink diet soda.

Let our every action match the fact that we said 'we are sorry' for our sins!

Belief is not limited to accepting a set of statements, it's also living as if you believe those set of statements.

(I'm telling you, ask God what you can learn from ANYTHING!)

-Isaac

What a baby!

November 15, 2007

We cry so much coming into this world because we were so comfotable with where we are, but eventually when it comes time for our death we don't want to leave this earth because we are so comfortable here.

How do we know that, like in the womb, we are in this world only to develope and get ourselves ready for what is to come next.

It takes nine months for our bodies to form in the womb. We grow fingers, legs, a mouth and ears not because we need them in the womb, but because we need them for what is coming after the womb.

If we had the ability to understand when we were a fetus, I wonder if we would say "why am I growing this mouth? I certainly am not using it", "why am I growing these legs? Surely they are of no use!" or "why do I have these eyes when it's so dark" we soon later would realize how we really don't know anything.

I wonder if this life is the same way, we may ask "why is it nessesary to work for perfection in my life? I will never reach it and as far as I get I will still die in the end".but what if our struggles to love our enemy, our struggles to lessen our pride actually is something that we will need all the more in what comes next.

Sure a baby in the womb does use his/her legs to kick, or does use his mouth for sucking his thumb, but he/she will soon realize a better purpose for his legs than to just kick, etc.
We may learn that sure if we are nice to everyone people will be nice back or if we lessen our pride we can learn more, but will we soon realize that there are actually more advanced benefits to our struggles in what comes next?

Just some thoughts.

your friend,

-Isaac Deitz

That's the Way the Building Crumbles

November 11, 2007

I realized the if a part of your life crumbles when something is removed from your life, then that only means that you made that thing a foundation a part of your life.

when you play Jenga and take out a block and everything crumbles you soon realize after that the building was founded on that block.

If you loose a boyfriend/girlfriend, job, house, family member, friend and your life falls apart, then you can only realize that your life was founded on that very thing.

The shoulder bone is connected to the arm bone.

November 06, 2007

Christianity is really focused on saying "this is spiritual" and "this isn't spiritual". But in the Jewish belief, everything is spiritual, and everything is about God, and you can learn from God from just using the bathroom, and learn about how your body takes the vitamins from certain parts of the food and it goes through your large intestine, small intestine, then out of your body comes all the stuff it didn't use.

There is a verse that says "pray without ceasing" I think it goes beyond talking to God, prayer should be a conversation, prayer without ceasing means to listen to what God has for you to hear every minute of every day.

Listen to how he is trying to speak to you through this or that.
Also don't read into things to much that every bad thing that happens you are thinking He is trying to say He is mad at you and punishing you, I've done that before.

Our Priorities Should Be Sinking

October 26, 2007

I think of the Titanic not the movie but the actual ship. Please try your best to think of this as an actual event that people went through, if your imagination can't go farther than the movie, just keep in mind it actually happened and try to imagine what it was like if you were there, without the clever comic relief that someone wrote in their office. Try to imagine peoples real reactions and real terror.

I am starting to realize this world is no different than a sinking ship. A lot of people live their lives through panic, trying to convince themselves they will never die. Even the survivors of the Titanic are dead now.

I think sometimes the most important things to think about or talk about are the ones that our reactions tell us not to, I truley believe this is one of them.

When the Titanic was sinking, money was of no importance, what you owned, what status you are, all this was meaningless. What it all came down to (or should have come down to) was peoples lives.

I used to think that people lost their faith when something bad happened in their life. Someone close to them dies, they loose their job, wife cheats on them, or even all the above happens at once.

At this point I don't believe situations like that make us loose our faith, but expose our faith.
I know I mention a little of this in the last blog, but I'm really starting to think of how true this really is.

We can never show people unconditional love without conditions.

Sure I'll love you when you are nice to me, when you love me, when you give me things. But will I still show you love if you wrong me, steal from me, lie to me, beat me, or even murder a family member of mine?
I can see now how impossible it is to Love people as yourself without God. How many times have we harmed ourselves, did something we are ashamed of, but still forgave ourselves.

God is Love.
Love is Unconditional.
I also am realizing that God is not limited to the Bible, we think if we find a inconsistancy in the Bible that we have found an inconsistancy in God.

Sure we will hold the door open for someone when our life isn't at stake.
What about the times people on the titanic pushed people out of the way to save their life?

Every time something bad happens in your life, I hope that you take the oppertunity to show how faithful you are.

If you are on a titanic, you have a great oppertunity to show people you still care about them more than yourself.

I can give a million examples, but I won't.

It sure is easy to think you have faith when everything in your life is going fine.
I trust God will provide when I have money in my pocket.
But do I trust he will provide when I don't?
Even then, is food what he promised us?

I think that whole story of Jesus forgiving the sins of the cripple, and only healing him after people started talking. Because there was way more important thinks in life to whether or not we eat, walk, laugh, enjoy our life.

I can't remember what book this is from.
I think from the acts of Peter but I love it:

"Until you realize that whatever is up is down, whatever is right is left you will never understand the kingdom of God"

Everything you think this world tells you is important, question and see if it is important to God.

In every gospel it says, "whoever looses their life for me, will gain it, whoever holds onto it will loose it"

Don't ask the world what is important.

Funny how our faith works

October 25, 2007

If something is funny to us, we laugh at it.
Laughter happens to be reaction to something we believe is funny.
We don't laugh at jokes that don't make sense to us, unless we are trying to impress those around us.

How differently should we treat Jesus (I am making an analogy of course).

We should allow our beliefs become a reaction.
Something we hear or read about God makes sense to us, we should react.

Love on another as yourself, love your enemies. It makes sense on how you can change the world with this, but are we really reacting to this knowledge? We think so often "this is a great idea" but don't change our lives.

I started realising the most important thing that God did when He came onto this earth is to tell us to 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself'. I honestly believe this is the meaning of life (if you read my past blogs you can see me talk about it, though I wonder if you see me live my life if you can watch me act it) either way I tried to be nicer and kinder and 'loving' towards people even those I didn't get along with.

I also loved telling people how much contentment there is in doing these two things, that really it doesn't matter if you have a great job, nice girl, nice things, there is so much fufilment in doing what we are commanded to do. I began to mention this to people and to people that don't take God's comands seriously (notice I don't just say non-Christians because we Christians don't take it to seriously either) I would hence the second part, loving people.
Which now I realise my blunder and realise the most important part is the Loving God part, after He will give you love for people. Loving people as yourself isn't limited to an action.

We hear the verse 'be kind to your enemies and in doing so you reap hot coals on their head' Are we kind to people to see them suffer? Do we want to see hot coals on their head? From a mewithoutYou lyric, "we talked about the second and third, when we haven't understood the first" we are talking about loving people without loving God.
I believe if we love God THEN AFTER love people, we will really love people. And I think the whole hot coals on their head thing is more like, you will put something on their mind they can hardly ignore. You will put the thought of love on their head.

Everything makes sense, but we fail to react to it.
To many people who claim Christianity will loose their faith when their house burns down or something.
Woe to us for loosing our faith when finally we can use it.
We have faith in so much of this world and so little (if any) on God. When He forces us to have our faith on Him that's when we don't loose our faith in Him but really see how little (if any) we really had in the first place.

God says he will take care of us.
We think that means we will have a lexus and mansion if we do His will.
When we do His will I wonder if we should have either!

I'm trying to wrap this up sooner but the words are-a-flowin'.

There is a story of Jesus walking up to a cripple and says "your sins are forgiven"
Imagine being a cripple and seeing Jesus and he says that to you, instead of healing you!
Since Jesus is God how much should we see this as "there is way more important things than if you are cripple or homeless or poor"
Jesus did end up healing the cripple. But I think he wanted to get the priorities straight.

Make sure that you aren't worried about loosing your house, your family, your legs, your sight, but most importantly making sure your heart is right, and your actions follow.

I leave with this...

"test after test shows that the people inside the church live their lives the same as those outside the church"

We are walking around saying something is hilarious but never laughing at it.

Lets react to what our minds are convinced of.

It's a wonderful Life

October 24, 2007

I watched a movie about a year and a half ago, it's called It's a Wonderful Life, I saw it in July, which according to my friends, you're not allowed to watch that movie other than Christmas time.

It's one of the best movies in the world, we save it only for Christmas time, and almost feel required to watch it every year.

Two things that makes you do:

It makes you only think about friendship and how important everyone's life is only on Christmas and also makes you get sick of the movie or how incredible it really is.

That being said...

How much different do we treat the birth of God Himself?

We only think about the miracle of this once a year.

and we think we know so much about it that we forget how amazing it really was.

At this point I only apologize of saying this late and not early.

I think this story we should think about in July just as much (if not more) than December, because we need to start thinking about Jesus as a living person. Not a plastic figure that needs dusting.

Here are a few of the many things you can start thinking about all year round.

David, Abraham, Solomon, etc are all these people that looked forward to a certain day. Usually you can see what occupies someone's mind with reading their writings. All their writings were about getting excited to have the savior of the world in their blood line, etc.

Imagine growing up and having your parents tell you about this guy called Imanual (which I think is the coolest word in the english language). The reason it is so cool because the word means "God is with us". They all filled their minds with wonder of what God will look like when He comes as a man, what He will teach them and everything.

The creator of the world we take for granted is finally going to come.

Just really think about the wonder.

Ever hold a baby?

It's quite impossible to hold a bady and not be amazed about God's creation when you look into the babies eyes.

Imagine being the wisemen.

Holding this baby and KNOWING it IS God Himself. Imagine the very God that holds the stars in place, is in your arms.

I think you need to read that part again.

Then imagine this.

Imagine holding Thomas Edison in your arms and you knew what he was going to accomplish. Looking in that babies eyes, knowing that he would invent every form of entertainment. Before light bulbs and times square and the matrix, you just could only grasp a very very little of what that baby is going to change.

Now imagine it's Jesus, before you hear a million times about the miracles he has done. Imagine knowing he is going to change this very world, and re-define the word savior.

Imagine holding that child and looking to his eyes and know that Abraham and King David would have done anything to see what you're seeing.

I can go on forever, which means this story is something that should be thought about more than once a year.

Jesus isn't the reason for the season, he is the reason for life itself.

think more about this because I'm ending this way early.

For those who don't know me...

October 14, 2007

It's taken me 21 years of mistakes to get me to where I am today.

It's really hard at this point to sum up what those years have made me.

My life consists of questioning answers, instead of answering questions and if you continue to read my blogs that's what they will mostly consist of.

I am a Christian, but it doesn't mean I agree or believe everything that I'm told to.

Though I'm less stubborn as I am making myself out to be.

But I'm trying to prepare you to expect anything.

You might know me as Tub-O from my video work with a band called Family Force 5. If you are familar with that band check out Chap Stique's blog, I happen to tour/live/work with him and his every word and every belief is backed up by how he lives. I suggest you check out his blog and everyone elses.

Because apparently the more you read, the more advertisers you support, the more money gets donated to these awesome charities.

So really your time does equal money, and we all appreciate anyone checking out our blogs.

So whether these blogs help you laugh or help you think, your reads will help someone in need you will never meet.

in conclusion, thanks for reading this far.

I leave you with a video I made with my cellular telephone:
