best albums of 2008
March 14, 2009
i have finally composed my list of what i think the best albums of 2008 are! i didnt order them because i dont think i could at this point.
vampire weekend/vampire weekend - their isnt a nerdy preppy rock cd out there like this. i dig it so hard. plus i have stellar memories of dancing to it when i first heard it that always make me laugh.
house of heroes/the end is near - this sophomore follow up is one of the best i have heard. some songs are catchy, some have killer lyrics, some are just all around awesome.
kings of leon/only by the night - seriously i cant share my love for this cd in words. its just awesome. its stellar. revelry and use somebody are so good my face falls off when i hear them.
weezer/red album - greatest man who ever lived is one of the most epic songs ever and that alone could be reason enough to make it to my list. but its not, cause the whole cd is great.
coldplay/viva la vida - its anthemy, its rock, its got hooks, its got it all. plus their grammy performance was awesome, at least i thought. but i could have done without jay z.
death cab for cutie/narrow stairs - its beautiful, its got killer lyrics and its sorta haunting in the best way possible.
all american rejects/when the world comes down - this may be my guilty pleasure cd i guess but its so good. the duet on another heart calls is amazing. and basically all songs are incredibly catchy and i could listen always.
jonas brothers/a little bit longer - what can i say? they always amaze me. lovebug, tonight, burning up, video girl are all constantly in my head among others. its just all around good and im always proud.
taylor swift/fearless - if nothing else this cd came out at a perfect time for me to be listening to whiny girl music that cheered me up or at least proves you arent alone. lame or not lame, that is the truth. change is an awesome song too.
demi lovato/dont forget - just like jonas, the amount of time working for her to sell the cd may make me a little biased but i dont think so because it is that awesome. trainwreck is amazing, dont forget it beautiful, and la la land is exactly what girls should be hearing.
honorable mentions:
mgmt/oracular specacular - electric feel and kids are amazing singles to make me buy the cd and the rest of the cd is great enough to keep me hooked.
gaslight anthem/'59 sound - i dont like bruce springsteen much yet i love these guys but aside from that, this cd is great. here's looking at you, great expectations, and the title track are the best but they are all pretty great.
hold steady/stay positive - they have some good and some bad so i couldnt put it on my top list but all around its good enough to keep on rotation in my cd collection.
anberlin/new surrender - i have been a fan forever and i have been let down by other cds but this one brought back my love for them. new producer did them well.
