the speculative trip to london
August 09, 2009
actually materialized.
i know these blog entries are frequenting trips to london, but i'm sure thats pretty much better than telling you about the 'lovely' grass and compost that makes up cambridge.
so,
yawn, the dawn breaks over the horizon and the sound of it awakens the girl (in a very cute new york shirt) to a day of excitement, culture, indulgence and a lot of walking.
london, here we come. again.
so the whole family drove down to high barnet to take a tube into the city. because frankly, it takes forever to get in by car and parking is ridiculous. first stop is the obscure and arcane borough market. i say that because nobody really knew what it was. the websites and all other information were not consistent and totally ambiguous.
but lo and behold! it was AMAZING. the FOOODD. oh the food.

and you know what was even more brilliant? it was directly beneath the trains.

omg. it was like a fairy tale. except no fairies. i always imagined myself pitifully having an apartment next to the trains or sth, and when it went past, the whole place will shake with the booming thunderous claps of metal and motion. i say pitifully, but in truth, i would LOVE it.
anywhoo, we had lunch there, by purchasing various mouthwatering foods. and walloped it all up.

the paella was bleah but everything else was gorgeous! i had a sizzling german sausage in a crispy baguette. mmmmm. the dressed crab was mmmmlicious too. my sister made a mistake by eating a toasted cheese sandwich. i use the term 'toasted' rather loosely. it was totally and completely deep-fried in OIL. lols. i should say more just to annoy her. hohohoho she felt 'guilty' the rest of the day.
after the delightfully sinful lunch, we decided to walk off the excess 'guilt' towards tate modern. for those who don't know, which i must admit, was me about a week ago, it's a museum. or a gallery of sorts. like, lots of old paintings and stuff. hmm. anyways, we took the route along the river thames.

it just kept reminding me of the doctor who episode where he drained the river to drown the aliens conspiring to take over the world. i say it in a voice thick with irony. here i am remembering a hero who destroyed a plan of conquering the human race and yet i get this story from a machine which is part of a family of other machines that plan to overtake the human race. hmmm.
anyways, tate modern. we weren't allowed to take any pictures inside so all i got was this.

the entrance. LOLS.
but that was our adventure part 1. coming up next will be the non-stop lamentation of the poor tea-house we went to in regent's park and our wonderful dinner.
