Happy Holidays One Love!!!

Wow what a wonderful holiday season it has been! I trimmed the tree, baked christmas cookies, hung stockings (shaped like cowboy boots conveniently ...i mean hello!!! I am a country singer!!!) frolicked in the snow, played a christmas show in Houston (where it snowed for the first time in it seemed like forever!) sang o holy night at my little church I grew up in at our candle light service... it was wonderful!  Seriously.... we had three feet of snow in Fredonia on Christmas and it was magical.

Tonight is New Years Eve and I am very excited!  This past year has been amazing, inspiring and heartbreaking all at the same time!  I think 2009 is gonna change EVERYTHING!

I leave you with this one lovers:  my ninety year old grandma breaking it down on Christmas day... with my nephew charlie... You are NEVER too old to dance!!! I promise no alcohol was drank by any of the participants!!! She is just really crazy!!!

Here's to a an amazing New Year!!!

Crossroads is the coolest show ever...

November 09, 2008

So I saw this on tv the other night... So awesome.. At first it seems weird but then it get....awe.....some.....

I was sitting on my couch and when this song was over and the audience started cheering I started clapping too and then I realized...I was alone in my living room and my dog was looking at me like I was Crazy... haahaa I am a dork...but this....this is awesome!!!

I heard you hooked up with Old Greg...and that's why we hang out

November 09, 2008

What is up people?  Ruthie here and I must say it's been absolutely WAY too long... which is my fault of course.  I've had a really cool weeks wanna hear about it?  ok....

So i've been writing my little butt off lately and I'm SO excited about these songs! I really feel like I have been writing the best songs that I ever had and it's a really good feeling!  I took a trip to NY, wrote with some awesome writers there, went to my hometown and opened up for Aaron Carter....haahaa just kidding Jade is was Aaron Tippin... funny though because it was in the city Nick Carter was born in...(coincidence? I think not...)  Anyway that was an amazing amazing trip!  The people from county in NY forever rock my world because they constantly play Wild Honey on the radio and I think that's AWESOME!!!

Anyway, I have been so inspired by some of the writers I've been hanging with lately!!! And you guys seriously need to check some of these people out! You will be fans I promise!

I wrote a great song called disappear with my buddy Jeff Cohen...  Quickly became a favorite of mine... you can check that out at my myspace.  Also one of my favorite writing partners ever... Blu Sanders...couldn't find a cooler guy!  He's an AMAZING artist and I think he needs to be featured on like every episode of Grey's anatomy and every show on the CW... He rocks...

Also wrote a really cool song Country Girl Fairy-tale with my friend Steve Bogard the other day... you can check out the youtube video of it if you want!!!  This was cool because his hit list is CRAZY!!! He had all of his latest cuts and holds written up on a chalkboard in his office where we wrote and it was so long!!!! p.s. who gets a taylor swift cut anyway??? Like I said crazy.

Oh another cool story!  I wrote with a really cool guy the other day.  Trent Dabbs.  Definitely check him out. This was cool because I've actually been a fan of his for a while now.  So for all you super fans out there.. you will like this.  So I found Trent's music through Ashley Monroe. I've been a fan of hers ever since her song Satisfied was on CMT a few years back. But she doesn't have a record out so I go to her myspace to listen to her music.  That's how I found trent.  So my BMI rep set up the write and we wrote an awesome song called the Hurting Side.  Even cooler though Trent asked me to sing at a session that he had booked for the next day.  Turned out ashley was out of town and couldn't sing the songs...so me (the fan of Ashley and Trent) got to sing on two songs in the studio that they had written together!!!! Small world huh?  It was a really cool experience!!!

So that's a little catch up for you on my life!!!

Happy almost holiday season guys!!! I'm getting excited for pie!!!

MUAH:)

Corn Dogs and Funnel Cakes:)

August 04, 2008

What's up guys? Wow it seems like so much has happened since I was on here last. Victoria and I have been super busy and I feel like the summer has already flown by! We've been working our little butts off playing shows and doing some serious writing this summer! We've written some awesome new songs that we're really excited to share with you all. Be expecting demos of "Love You With a Broken Heart" and "Careful What You Wish For!" These two brand new songs are quickly becoming Wild Honey favorites. We wrote the first with our awesome friend Blu Sanders and the second with our buddy Jake Matthews over at Grand and Gee. We're really excited about these new songs and about all the co-writing we've been doing. It's a new adventure for us and we're loving it! We played a county fair the other day that was pretty cool. Ok... it wasn't cool at all... It was a cool 100 degrees on stage! But Vic and I still managed to rock out while sweating profusely!!!! But we had a great time playing some new and old songs on 104.1 the ranch in Carthage TN. Plus... Vic and I ate some serious fair food... Corn dogs are funnel cakes... MMMMMMM..... Orther than that we are just getting ready for our first northern tour!!!!!! YAY! I'm so excited since I'm from the north. We're actually playing the historic opera house in my hometown Fredonia, NY. I remember when I was little kid thinking.. "I just hope I can play the opera house one day... then I'll have made it!!!" heehee But it should be a great time. From Fredonia we go to Detroit then to Indy where I met our managers!!! Maybe we'll make a stop at the white castle...hmmm maybe not! Anyway I hope you all are having an awesome summer and staying cool!! We hope to see you all really soon!

Our Fans are the Best!!!

June 11, 2008

Hey everybody! Ruthie here!  Wow... I can't even believe how much has happened to victoria and I lately!  Most of it is just so amazing I can't even believe it!

First of all ... CMA Fan Fest 2008 has officially come to an end....awwww.... This was Wild Honey's first EVER fan fair and it couldn't have been a better weekend!  Vic and I had such an amazing time meeting you guys!

We started off the week helping out at the celebrity softball game on Wednesday!  This was so much fun and a really good motivator for us.  We hope to one day be on that field playing with all the other awesome players!  We got to hang in the dugout with some of our favorite country singers like Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Phil Vasser and so many more... it was a dream and we had so much fun.  So thanks to City of Hope for putting this amazing event on and thanks for letting us help!

Thursday we hit the streets of Nashville in search of..... YOU!  Downtown was CRAZY!  We met so many cool people.  Thanks to everyone who signed up for our text alert system and came out to meet us! You guys rock.... Seriously...

Friday morning we did our first ever radio tour at CMT!  This was just simply awesome.  We talked to about ten different stations and were guests on morning shows all over the country!  So thanks to everybody at CMT and at all the stations for letting us hang!

After that I got to go to the stadium with my awesome manager Jade! Thanks Jade!  We saw an absolutely amazing show... Huge stars like Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood, Josh Turner... amazing show... And really crazy to think one year ago is where is all started for vic and I.  I took her to the stadium show last year and introduced her to our current managers Cassie and Jade who at the time were just friends.  Vic and I hadn't even decided to be in a duo yet and it was her first real concert!  Crazy huh... who would've thought???  Anyway, the highlight of the night was totally the surprise guest of the evening... and artist I have been DYING to see for years now.  KEITH URBAN!  And he rocked the house like I have NEVER seen anyone rock the house before.  This one thing he did was so amazing.  He ran off stage with his guitar and a mic in his hand and jumped out in the crowd and was singing... Yeah really cool but we've all seen that before right??? But then... he sits on the metal barricade that separates the fans and the stage and he hands the mic to a fan to hold so he can play his guitar and sing at the same time.  As he finishes singing, you see him look down at the guitar real quick and then at the girl in front of him.  In clearly a split second decision he whips out a sharpie, signs the guitar, takes it off, hands it to the girl and runs back on stage... And the 40,000 or so fans in the stadium went WILD!!! And this was no random lame guitar... I wish I could remember exactly what it was, but I'm pretty sure it was like a Les Paul Jr. or something... Intense.. .I have never in my life seen anything more rockstar!

Saturday was our show at Cadillac Ranch and it was awesome!  Our band rocked out, we rocked out, met so many fans and a good time was had by all!  After the show we celebrated with mexican popsicles from Las Paletas!!!  MMMMMM....

Sunday was convention center day!!! YAY! We signed for like four hours and it was definitely the best part of my weekend! Fan Fair is totally about the fans and I got to meet so many of you!  Thanks guys for being so nice to vic and I.  I couldn't believe first of all how many of you watched the show and second of all how supportive you guys were!  And to everyone who came up to us, gave us a big hug and screamed "You got robbed on Can You Duet!"  (which ...heehee was probably one of out every 10 people we met that day!) we want you to know how thankful we are for you! But don't worry... vic and I are doing great! We are getting out there and so many doors have been opened up for us!  And we came in 6th place for petes sake!!!! We think that is AWESOME!  But seriously, we had such a great time meeting everyone! Thanks to powersource magazine, american songwriter magazine and tetley tea for having us out!  Check out all our pics of the weekend! You never know... you might be in one of the pictures!

Until next year guys, we had a great time at Fan Fair and we can't WAIT for year number 2!

love,

ruthie

p.s. check out this article that was in the Nashville Scene reviewing the Can You Duet reunion show at Edgehill Cafe a few weeks ago...they were very nice to me!!! The article is called Two to Tango and it's about half way down the page!  Thanks guys!

WILD HERE!

June 03, 2008

Hey everyone!!!

Its Victoria and it has been a while since i've blogged on here!

SO I went home to GA this weekend for my brothers wedding. It was a lot of fun! I saw so many people i haven't seen in like 10 years. All of my brothers friends that we grew up with introduced themselves to me because they didn't recognize me since i got big. :) It was really funny! I sang 3 songs during the Wedding. My brother and my sister in law wanted me to sing the song " The Luckiest" by Ben Folds. I never even heard it before but i learned it the day before. It's a beautiful song! I sang it right before they said their vows! It was pretty intense cause I'm really close with the both of them. Lots of people cried! It was so sweet! When I finished singing i walked away to go sit down and I had my guitar and i forgot somehow that it was plugged in! So as I'm walking away I hear this really loud noise coming from the PA amps. lol The guitar cable followed me and ripped out. Everyone laughed. IT was kind of an awkward moment for me to make a really loud noise. But whatever! It was funny anyway. We danced and ate a ton of food. My 82 year old Granny named Burma, Kissed this young guy for a picture and also danced to rap music. Which are two things that I have never seen or ever thought i would see in my life. It was over all a pretty interesting wedding!

So this week is crazy Fan Fair week! I'm back in Nashville, Thank GOD! But this is gonna be quite a busy week for us! Ruth and I are just getting ready!!

I LOVE THE WEATHER AND THE POOL! ( for a random fact )

Our EP just went up for sale on Band Box today!! WOOOO! We're so happy and excited about that!

I'm going to work now! LOVE YOU BYE!

Thank God for Fishermen!!!

May 25, 2008

So the other day I was asked to go out on the river with my friend Jimmy on a boat ride! Sweet right!?? I grew up on lake erie and I never get to go out on the water in Nashville so I was psyched!!  We got the boat, fueled up, picked up a six pack of Corona and went off for the perfect day!!

And it was so perfect! Springtime in Nashville, 79 degrees out, perfect!  We drove around the cumberland for a while, docked for dinner, ate some catfish, and then decided we should head back because it was getting dark and Jimmy forgot his spotlight.

So about ten minutes away from where we put in.......

the boat dies.

Out of nowhere.  I was like uh....what now?

Jimmy couldn't figure out what was wrong but the engine was smoking up a storm... so we decided to paddle!

But... we only had one paddle... So I used a water-ski!!  We paddled for about fifteen minutes but unfortunately the wind was going the other way so we did not get far with the paddle idea.

We sat out there for about a half an hour wondering if we would soon become victim to Jason from Friday the 13th...ya know the part where the girl is in the canoe and he just comes out of nowhere and grabs her and takes her underwater??? Freaked me out as a kid...so bad.

Anway, finally out a nowhere a bass boat drives by.  Jimmy flags them down with the paddle and they drive over to us!  Dustin and Tony saved our lives!!!  They threw us a rope and pulled us to shore!!  These guys were awesome.  They went over an hour out of their way to help us out and we seriously would probably still be out on the river if they hadn't!!!

So Tony and Dustin...wherever you are...you rock. Thanks for going fishing and thanks for saving us and Jimmy's boat!

Hope everyone has an amazing Memorial Weekend and be safe!!

love,

ruthie

Top 3 Reasons Why I'm a Dork

May 19, 2008

ok I really only have one...but if you ask victoria I'm sure she could give you a long list!

So here's my embarrassing story:

After the premier of Can You Duet I was on the message board for the show reading some of the blogs... (come on don't pretend you all don't stalk your own message boards I know you do!!!)

anyway, one of the threads was asking who's song our audition song was.  Someone replied that it was a wreckers song.  Well it was actually a wild honey song that Vic and I wrote so in order to protect my art.... (heehee that sounds so pretentious... heheee) I....

created a fake profile and signed in as countrygirly84...  i think I tried a couple other names like taylorswift4life and maybe carrierocksmysocks but nothing worked so I settled on countrygirly84... fairly ambiguous right??? heehee

so I wrote something on the thread like " I think it's a wild honey song! It's up on their myspace page!!" Complete with a link to our site...shameless plugging I know but whatever..we all do it!

So in the last few weeks (and this could be so much worse...) I think I've only written on the board one other time under the favorites thread I simply wrote "I like wild honey!"  True statement... right? I mean.. I DO like wild honey!!!

So this is where it gets embarrassing...  The other day one of my managers told me that it would be a good idea to get on the board and introduce myself and talk to people...

So I did... got on... introduced myself, thanked everyone for being such a fan of the show and so on and so forth...see where this is going yet?

Well I forgot that every time I go to the board it automatically signs me in as countrygirly84.  And I guess I just didn't realize what that meant.

So yes I totally got caught.  Posting fan comments on my own board about myself...

heehee I figured I could say like it was my sister's name and she was being supportive and I just used her name... But then I figured whatever I'll just laugh at myself and admit it!

So you know you've done it, or thought of it, or done if for a friend!  I've posted on so many message boards of friends of mine to support/stand up for them... And this time I did it for myself!  Don't be a hater guys.. it's cute right???

What can I say??? I'm a dork!

In other news... Wild Honey was in this weeks edition of Country Weekly with the top 8 of Can You Duet!!! woo hoo!!!

To Blog or Not to Blog

May 13, 2008

Hmmm so I always feel wierd about blogging about personal stuff... I mean people don't really want to hear me ramble about my pathetic life... but I figure...

a. blogging is a good venting mechanism.....just like journaling!

and

b. it's for charity right???

so here is my random personal blog that probably won't make sense to anyone but will feel good to say...or write that is...

What do you do when all you want to do is help someone but you don't know how?  We all can just try to be the best people that we can but it's hard when you realize that sometimes forcing your help only hurts.

We can try to love but sometimes we just have to let go.

So I'm giving it up and letting it go.  The control freak in me is freaking out but I suppose that's a good thing.  All I can do is all I can do and that's all I can ask of others.

I have so much to be thankful for so I will turn my thoughts to that and try not to grumble about the little things that consume my mind.  I've always been a worrier and that probably won't ever change.

I know I'm being taken care of.  It's in my nature to try to take care of everyone and always be a people pleaser.  That never works out quite the way I hoped!  So for now I will try to fix myself and stop trying to fix everyone else... Wish me luck!!

love, (or at least trying to!)

Gifts to be Given

May 02, 2008

Hey guys! Happy Friday!  Hope everybody has had an awesome week! I know I have!

Last Saturday Vic and I played the Country Music Marathon.  It got off to kinda a rough start because it was pouring and the stages were not covered!!! AHHH!  So we waited it out and by our last song I think the sun actually came out!!!  We had so much fun watching all the runners.  They were incredible!  I can't imagine running even the half marathon let along 26 miles!!! Are you kidding me? These people are super heros!  And then there were the Kenyans!  I think they ran the whole thing in like...maybe 20 seconds...?? heehe

Sunday night we went to see a fabulous show at 3rd and Lindsley, one of our favorite clubs in town.  Sean McConnell played first and I was blown away! That boy could sing the telephone book I swear!  Tyler Hilton played next and was amazing as usual.  Check out the Wild Honey myspace for pics with tyler and the band!

Other than that the big thing that happened to me this week... I received an amazing gift!  Now anyone who knows me knows it's kinda hard for me to accept things from people.  I don't know why I have this problem but I hate asking for help and I don't feel like I deserve it most of the time... My ex-boyfriends mother used to give me gifts all the time and at first it freaked me out. But then I realized that gift giving isn't just about the person who recieves the gift.  People get joy out of giving. It makes them happy too!!!  It's still hard for me to be ok with gifts but I'm working on it!!!  I can only hope that I can live my life giving as much as I can in any way I can. I don't have much to give, but i can use the gifts I have been given (music, friendship, love) and try to give back.  So to Matt. Thank you so much for the beautiful guitar.  It is more than I could've ever asked for.  I've been obsessed with gibson acoustics for years and I am now the proud owner of my own gorgeous hummingbird!

And thanks to the one love.  This site helps us all to be givers... and that's amazing!

love,

ruthie

Bulging Membranes

May 01, 2008

Hello One Love!
This is Victoria Gibson from Wild Honey! First of
all I just wanted to say how awesome it is that we get
to be apart of the one love! Ruth and I both are super
excited!

Well my reasoning for the subject of this blog is
because I didn't sleep at all last night due to the
non-stop coughing i was having! I went to Ruths house
this morning. Fell asleep and when i woke up I was
feeling worse. So I decided to go to the doctor. She
said that my membranes were bulging and they could
have erupted or something and that would be terrible!
So I guess membrane equals ear drums. So Good thing i
got 80 bucks worth of meds to take! Then Wild Honey
can get busy working again!!

Enough about me being sick. Its not that bad i just
wanted to explain my subject!
So everything in our life is going amazing! Since "Can
you Duet" things have really started to take off!! So
we found out today that according to myspace charts
Wild Honey is The #9 independent country artist in
Tennessee and #39 in the world! So that is really
exciting!!
Lately We had a ton of youtube views from our first
audition video from can you duet! It was number one
most viewed country music video for at least a day! So
that was really cool for us too! We have the best
managers in the whole world! Not only are they hip and
cool but also really awesome and perfect for us! :)
Cassie and Jade help us out so much everyday! I
remember when we were at opryland they would come like
once a day to bring us redbull and medicine for when
we were sick and sleepy! I do believe they set us up
for a radio interview for 103.3 sometime this week! So
great things are happening in our lives everyday! It
just seems to get better and better!

Cassie is leaving us:
I'm really sad that Cassie is moving to New York
because she has become a good friend of mine! I know
thats where she wants to be but i'm still so sad about
it cause she's awesome! She keeps saying she'll be
back all the time but i'm not so sure i believe her!
DON'T LEAVE ME CASSIE!!!! :(

Ok well this blog should be over with because the meds
are making me loopy and if this didn't make a lot of
sense then that is my reasoning! Love you all!!!! Come
Check us out at Myspace.com/wildhoney for upcoming
shows and new music!

The Best Day Ever!!!

April 14, 2008

Hey there One Lovers!!!

Ruth from Wild Honey here!  Wow it is so cool to be a part of all this!  I've been reading blogs on the one love from the beginning since I've got a bunch of college buddies who are a part of it... (What's up to ben, nate, luke eric and steve!! I miss all of you guys!)  What an amazing idea the one love is and wild honey is pumped to be included!

So this day is pretty much the best day ever and I will tell you why... I'll break it up into three sections!!! Section A. is entitled "the one love rocks my freaking world..."  Section B. is called "New Track Bliss" and Section C...  Section C. is embarrassingly referred to as  "oh my goodness, I can't believe I was actually on a reality show...random!!!"  Ok here goes!!!

Section A: The One Love Rocks My Freaking World!!!

So I know I said how happy I am to be a part of the one love but I'll say it again.  To all the creators of this site,  you guys are amazing and have beautiful hearts! Ok I'll stop being so cheesy and tell you a little bit about why I am here!

I am a singer/songwriter living in Nashville, TN.  I play in the duo Wild Honey.  My duo partner is Victoria Gibson and she's pretty much the coolest girl ever.  Not only is she an incredible singer and writer, she's also my best friend...and that's just awesome.  We met at the Cheescake Factory about a year ago.  We were both servers there.  We started hanging out and singing together and Wild Honey was born!

Right now we are writing and playing around town!  Life is amazing!!  Things are starting to pick up for us and we couldn't be happier.  We are SO blessed to have an amazing team of people in our life helping us out.  We decided that our charity would be the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital right here in town.  Kids are pretty much my other passion besides music.  I'm really excited about this charity because the hospital is literally three minutes away from my apartment and we can't wait to go visit some of the kids over there!!!  Which brings us to this morning... getting the call to see if we would blog on the one love! So exciting... which is reason number one why....

The one love rocks my freaking world and this is the best day ever!!! ok moving on...

Section B: New Track Bliss

So all of you musicians out there know how exciting it is to record new music.  That moment where you get the CD with your new tracks on them...even if your engineer scribbled ROUGH all over it with some dying sharpie...it's still pretty much the best feeling ever.  You slide that CD into your car stereo and it's magical.  Hearing all your ideas take form with the help of musicians and producers is like watching your baby take it's first steps or something...ok well maybe not that amazing... but really really amazing!  Even you music lovers can relate!  It's that same feeling you get when you wake up on a tuesday and you say..."finally that record I've been waiting months for is here!" And you rush to your nearest target or whatever, peel of the plastic and pop it in the car.  New Track Bliss....

Victoria and I have been dying to record for months and months.  We finally recorded four songs at my friend Eric Masse's studio in Fairview, TN a few weeks ago.  We called on a couple killer rockers to ya know...kill it!!! And kill it they did.  So anyway, four new tracks are up on our myspace today!  I was up till 6:30 this morning making mix revisions with my friend and mix engineer ted.  Somewhere half past delirious we decided close enough and called it a night.  So some of the mixes still need to be tweaked and it's sorta ghetto mastered but go check them out!  We are so excited for some new material FINALLY!!!!  (myspace.com/wildhoney)  Anyway this concludes section B and is why...

New Track Bliss = THE BEST DAY EVER!!!!

Section C: Oh my goodness, I can't believe I was actually on a reality show...random!!!!

So a few months ago Wild Honey was on this reality show called Can You Duet.  It premiers on CMT tonight after the CMT award show!  Very exciting...  For all of you critics out there, I was a little (haahaa yeah right, a LOT) apprehensive about being on a "reality show"...  But in retrospect, I can only be absolutely 100% grateful for this show in my life.  Not only has it been amazing publicity for our band, I met the coolest people in the world on this show.

I always kinda had it in my mind that on a reality show people would be catty and competitive and just plain not nice.  I couldn't have been more wrong.  At least on this show.  From the contestants, to the producers, to the camera people....I met the sweetest, funniest, most talented people ever!  I made some amazing friends while on Can You Duet and I'm not embarrassed to say I had the time of my life!

Victoria and I lived at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN for a month while filming.  That alone was incredible... I mean I went from serving at a pizza place/bar full time to singing and playing and living somewhere where a maid made my bed everyday!  CRAZY!  I won't tell you that much about the show yet.  You have to watch!!

Anyway the premier is tonight and Victoria and I are so excited.  I sorta feel like since it hasn't aired yet, it didn't really happen.  I think living it all over again on CMT will be so strange... It will be interesting to see if the "reality" version was anything close to my real reality!!!

Tonight we are going to hang out with the cast and watch the first episode.  And that is reason number three why:

Oh my goodness, I can't believe I was actually on a reality show... random!!! has been part of THE BEST DAY EVER!!!

Ok enough about my best day ever! I need to go live it!  You guys have a great week!!!

love,

ruth
