2008, Imma kiss you goodbye!!!

December 28, 2008

The year 2008 was overall a pretty darn good year.
Of course, there are always the good times and bad times. But hey, the bad times are meant to be erased from our memories and the good times are meant to be kept in our hearts, always and forever.

I partied my ass of with my girl friends last New Year eve. It was very fun and I end up getting myself sick as hell while school reopen and still manage to wake up at 6am to get ready for school. It was a tough week. But I survive!
I made a lot of friends through facebook too. Is unbelievable. Music is such a powerful power and it connects people heart to heart. How amazing? I would so love to meet all of them :D

Well, next year is my last year of high school and it’s a very important year to me. So, my New Year resolution is work harder in my studies, graduate with great grades and not disappoints my parents again and again. That’s all :)

Highlights of my 2008!
Jan 26 - Quiksilver Revolution 2.0 was fun! Surfers, skaters, music and sun! It was great

Feb 2 -Switchfoot’s concert was so awesome, so much fun. Got a semi hug from Jon in the middle of the concert during the beginning of the song, "This Is Your Life"!!

Yeah, I was right down there, somewhere front row. :P

Mac 14 - Colbie Caillat’s showcase was not bad. She’s a very friendly person.

Mac 15 - Sunburst KL was pretty darn fun but a little bummer. I was force to go home and missed out Incubus! :[ I saw Colbie’s band hanging out at the fest too. Lol!

June 7 – The Click Five’s concert! Major awesome time! I’m one of the lucky girl who won the meet and greet session. So awesome!

July 19 – Won 2 tickets to MTV Asia Awards!!!

July 20 – Won another tickets to MTV Asia Awards – Mosh pit baby!

July 27 – My very early birthday celebration! Got pushed down the pool and got 2 scars on my left knee. Thanks Edward. Lol!

Aug 2 – MTV Asia Awards. Pretty darn awesome. Meet a lot of people. Made new friends. Met some of my favorite people too. Wheeeee!

Aug 5 – Panic At The Dicso’s concert. It was absolutely insane! Major fun and Zack gave me Spencer’s drum head!

Aug 7 - My birthday!!! I had an unbelievably amazing week :D

Aug 29 – Avril Lavigne’s concert. My little sister beg my dad to bring her there and instead I took her there. It was a really last minute thing. The show was not bad.

Sep 24 - First blog post on The One Love!!!

Dec 8 – BALI BALI!

Dec 10 – Angels and Airwaves acoustic show live in Hard Rock Café, Bali. Major fun show. Meeting Tom DeLonge = one of the dreams come true :')

December 14, 2008

I open my eyes smiling. This is the day I’ve been waiting for,
Angels & Airwaves acoustic show.

But first, we’re going to Kintamani Volcano and Batur Lake.

About Kintamani Volcano and Batur Lake:
Mount Batur is located at Kintamani and it has erupted about 24 times since year 1800 and still active up to now. Since the mount erupting, it has impacted to the local society life around this mount, like removing altar (Temple), improve or repairing the village and re-arrange the tradition. Lake Batur is the biggest lake in Bali and functioning as irrigation source to all farmers around it and it is also for all Bali society generally. Kintamani area has been founded some lodging, hotels and restaurants which are located in Kintamani and Penelokan Village. It is a famous tourist place because Kintamani area owns the beautiful panorama and it is encircled by the cold atmosphere. Kintamani is beautifully seen at the day time around 10:00 am until 15:00 pm especially having fine weather where entire Kintamani area will be able to be seen clearly. Generally, all tourists who pay a visit to this place will arrive in the day time where they can enjoy the panorama or enjoy the lunch in the local restaurant with lake view. Mostly restaurants at Kintamani generally own very beautiful view where tourist merging into their lunch in this restaurant and meanwhile enjoy the panorama. Kintamani is located in Kintamani sub district, Bangli Regency and about 50 km from Denpasar Town or about 2 hours by car. All roads are generally in good condition to access to this place. The fog will descend and blanket entire area of Kintamani with cold temperature in particular at late afternoon until the whole of night. The most amazing panorama at Kintamani can be seen in the morning time, when the sunrise emerges on the surface of earth precisely on the mount Batur.

We went to this restaurant and it’s a Kintamani Volcano and Batur Lake view restaurant. I forgot the name of the restaurant but just imagine, sitting there, chilling with a cup of drink, enjoying the pleasant whether, enjoying the incredible view… it just so amazing.

Next stop, my dad’s personal favorite place, Sukawati.

About Sukawati:
This area is popular because for its Art Market. If you ask Balinese where to find art and craft with the cheapest price, they will recommend Sukawati. Here you can find cloth, paintings and statue, jewelry and also Balinese ceremonial items.

Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos there. But I can tell you that Sukawati is like a heaven for art and craft lovers. They are not just cheap but the quality of the art and craft beats Thailand’s. I’m not joking.

After a long day, had our dinner, went back to the hotel, wash up and my sister and I headed straight to Hard Rock Café, Bali for Angels & Airwaves acoustic show afterwards. Before the show I made a new friend. Her name is Princess and that’s the cutest name ever. Haha. There’s was a few Balinese who mistaken my sister and I are Taiwanese. Is strange because I don’t think I looked like Taiwanese at all! But they are all very friendly and treated us very well too. The concert started at 10pm sharp, the crowd was insane. The show was overall, effing awesome. Again, I’ll let the photos to do the talking.

Bali, 9th Dec 08 - Day 2

December 13, 2008

First stop, Bedugul / Ulundanu Temple

About Bedugul / Uludanu Temple:
To reach the mountain range, you drive west from Denpasar through Mengwi. As you leave the southern plains, the landscape changes from flowing tiers of rice to motley patches of onion, cabbage and papaya grown in the cool climate of the highlands. The clusters off arm houses along the way are no longer the familiar thatched huts of the south, but sturdy cottages made of wood and tile to withstand the steady downpour of heavy rains. This is rich alpine country. The earth, saturated by mountain streams, is smothered with thick moss and creepers. The road climbs and winds its way around steep cliffs hung with ferns, wild flowers and elephant grass.. In jungle terrain lies the serene lake of Bratan, veiled with mist. It fills the ancient crater of Mt. Bratan. Because the lake is an essential water source for surrounding farmlands, the people of Bedugul honor Dewl'tanu, goddess of the waters, in the temple UluDanu on a small promontory on the lake. One can stay overnight nearby at a rest house on the shore. It is peaceful and cool. Children fish for minnows and canoes cross the still waters, carrying firewood to villages on the further bank. Just near Bedugul is the market of Bukit Mungsu selling wild orchids and both temperate and tropical vegetables grown in the fertile soil here. Near the market are the botanical gardens. Lake Bratan is so lovely that it is easy to forget the surrounding forest-clad mountains. From the market a path leads through pine plantations up towards the primary jungle on the peaks. An old Dutch forestry house and the remains of a once extensive garden lie mysteriously within the forest. There is a small temple VWgh up, its walls carved with superb relief. On the road north of Bedugui, past the new international-standard golf course, the road rises along the lip of Lake Buyan, affording a clear view of the Bratan basin.

I got to say, the place is beautiful! The air was fresh, the whether was awesome and there were a lot of prayer around the temple too. By the way, I’ll let the photos to do the talking. I’m really not good with words.

Next stop, the must go place, Tanah Lot!

About Tanah Lot:
Tanah Lot means "Land in the Middle of the Sea" in Balinese language. Located about 20 km from Denpasar, the temple sits on a huge offshore rock which has been shaped continuously over the years by the ocean tide. Tanah Lot is said to be the work of the 15th century priest Nirartha. The story goes that during his travels along the south coast he saw the rock-island's beautiful setting and rested there. Some fishermen saw him, and bought him gifts. Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. Later he spoke to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock for he felt it to be a holy place to worship the Balinese sea gods. The Tanah Lot temple was then built and has been an important part of Balinese mythological history for centuries. The temple is one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast. It was said that each of the sea temples was to be within eyesight of the next so that they formed a chain along the south-western coast. At the base of the rocky island, poisonous sea snakes are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders. There is said to be one giant snake which also protects the temple. It is believed that this snake was created from Nirartha’s scarf when he established the island.

We walk across the sea to the temple and gosh the way to there was rather suffering for me. Rocks everywhere and is pretty painful and slippery. Here are some photos from Tanah Lot.

How was Twilight?

November 27, 2008

My answer is, It was good but not great.
What about yours? (Well, if you've seen the movie.)

I don’t know why… but I think there were some technical difficulties.
Because there was a few cut scene and jumped scene…
I'm not too sure if it's really technical difficulties…
I would have to watch it again to find out.

Oh and Happy Thanksgiving! <3

Rotting at home...

November 18, 2008

Well, it's school holiday now. Everyone seems to be busy with works, vacation etc. I’m more like rotting at home, online, eat, sleep, watching tv and doing the same thing all over again the next day. I felt lifeless, somehow.
Someone, please! Take me out!

Oh, do you still remember The Downtown Fiction? I've blogged about them before. (CLICKY) They are posting up new songs this Thursday, 6pm EST. Which is this Friday, 6am for Malaysia/Singapore timing. So, stay tune!

A photo.

November 17, 2008

Guardian News & Media (GNM) recently set up a group on Flickr called "A Message for Obama" to capture the many and diverse personal reactions to the election of President Obama. This group was so popular on Flickr lately and there was tones of photos were posted up by people from all over the world!

I was inspired by the photos that I saw on the group and so, I’ve decided to do one too. It was entitled as “Hope” and the description was “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow ” The reason why I entitled the photo as “Hope” is because, I think he bring hope to everyone, not only in the US but also the world.

Photobucket

Okay now, that wasn't exactly what I wanna blog about. What I wanna blog about is, last week, I got a message from GNM on Flickr and part of the message said “Guardian Books is publishing a book called “A message for Obama”, featuring some of the images uploaded to this Flickr group. The book will be 140 pages long, with a recommended retail price of up to GBP 9.99, and will be available in December 08.
This is a not-for-profit venture, as GNM will be donating all proceeds from this edition to the Guardian Katine project, details of which can be found at: www.guardian.co.uk/katine
We would very much like to include your photograph in this project.”

I was shocked and totally psyched when I saw this message!
With no question, I’ve agreed to let them use my photo for the book and plus, it’s for charity!

I'm very happy to be part of this project and I definitely can't wait to get a copy when the book hit the store! You should get one too, aiteee?

Till then

2nd Annual To Write Love On Her Arms Day

November 02, 2008

Spread the word. Stop the bleeding.

I got an event invitation from TWLOHA on FACEBOOK [click]

--------------------------------------------------

Check this out!
*REMEBER THIS EVENT IS A WORLDWIDE EVENT, ANYONE CAN ATTEND**
On November 13 go around writing LOVE on your arm in big letters be creative spread the word this is for all the surviours. all the innocent who arent loved all the kids who are hurting and suicide is the only way they can turn. also, don't forget to donate so kids in need can get the help they deserve. As someone who suffers from depression an has struggled with suicidal thoughts i think this is absolutely wonderful. I would do it once a month if it meant raising awareness on how severe this disease is. Depression an suicide have an impact on everyone whether its through having depression or knowing someone who does or someone who committed suicide. Its so simple to do. If you can dress up for spirit week at school i think you can take the time to write love on your arm. Its time to stand up and get the word out. Maybe someday there will b a cure for this instead of just a treatment of medicine that can actually make it worse. It takes thirty seconds to write four letters. I challenge you to stand up and speak out! I think some people are confused about what this is. All you have to do is literally write LOVE on your arm to show support .May be even donate some money or time at your local suicide hotline, or kids help phone. You write it on your arm, so that when someone asks... why is that on your arm, you can spread the word about depression ans suicide, because for some reason in our society depression and suicide are still taboo topics, that a lot pf people want to keep quiet, but everyone needs to start talking about it. Help is out there, and by keeping quiet we're only hurting the people who need the help. So speak up, and speak out!

www.TWLOHA.com
Check out the Site. and see the story that started it all.

REMEMBER*
POST PICTURES AFTER THE EVENT
I WANT TO SEE ALL THE AWARENESS
AND THE CREATIVE WAYS PEOPLE DID TO SPREAD THE WORD
AND CHECK OUT THE EVENT FROM LAST YEAR [click]

--------------------------------------------------

I'm doing this. You should do it too!
Is gonna be fun + we get to spread the word!
So what are you waiting for?
Start squeezing your brain juice for some creative idea
to write LOVE on your arm! :D

October 21, 2008

I'm heading to school in about 45 minutes. I'm having my breakfast now and drinking a cup of hot chocolate. The weather today is a little windier than the usual morning and it makes me wanna sleep!

Before I go, check out this band, Saturday Night Shakedown. I'm not sure if you've heard of them before. If not, here's a little about them.

SATURDAY NIGHT SHAKEDOWN was formed in the Summer of '08, in the fun city of FLINT, MI; Members Mike Reed, Josh Mondro, Steve Korff, John Estupigan, & Justen Snow have set out to create a sound thats all their own. With intense stage presence, experience, harmonizing vocals, (and GOOD LOOKS) accomplished by playing countless shows with previous successful projects, The members of SATURDAY NIGHT SHAKEDOWN have been brought together by fate to create music that makes you move. Superwoman

October 16, 2008

Superwoman by Alicia Keys. (the offical video's code are disable. idk why)

I love this song. The lyrics are amazing and this song is definitely an inspiration to every woman. Just like my mom (Don't worry dad! You're super too). My mom is just like my best friend, the best of the best... Well, more than that, I would say. She's a beautiful woman, from outside to inside. She got strong personalities. Those kinds of personalities that I've always adore. She gave me the best advice whenever I'm having a problem in my life. Whenever I need a shoulder to cry on, she's the first one I go to. We share endless laughter together too! Well, she's everything! Words can't describe it all.
She my mother, my best friend, my superwoman! <3

So, tell me your relationship with your mother.
Oh! I hope you enjoy the song too. :)

There's people who care

October 13, 2008

Two days ago, there were two lady who's about 20 years old rang my door bell. I didn't want to answer it at first because they're probably some promoter or some random person coming to my front door telling me that I've won a few thousand bucks or something like that (things like that always happened in my area) They rang my door bell again, continuously about 3 to 4 times and I got annoyed. So, I open up the door and asked them what's up? And they told me that they are from some church and they are here to talk a little about global warming. The topic caught my attention. So, I took a few minutes to listen to them. The talk was short and straight forward but yet interesting. It only took about 5 minutes I guess.

After they were done with their talking, I popped a question and asked them, why do they want to go house to house to talk about global warming? Why don't they just rent a booth at some mall and tell everyone about this? Because I'm pretty sure that there's only about 3 out of 10 people who will actually open the door and listen to them. They told me that they didn't want to rent a booth because they didn't want to waste money and their main reason going house to house is because they want to let people know that they care for the earth a lot and they want everyone to have a better enviroment. They said, walking under the hot sun, sweating their asses of are just small matter. As long as they get to spread the words to as many people as possible, they are happy.

You feel their care for the earth? They willing to sacrifice their time just to spread the words to everybody and that's very impressive (is that the right word?) actually. I really do hope the others will take a few minutes to listen to them and let them know that they are not wasting their effort, saliva, time doing all these for nothing.

The earth IS getting sicker and sicker, day to day. Want a better enviroment or not, is really up to us. 'Cause we are the reason why global warming happened. It's time to react before everything is too late people!

I have a dream

October 11, 2008

I dream to be a scientist.
I dream to be a doctor.
I dream to be an actor.
I dream to be a rock star.
I dream to be a super model.
I dream to be a president.
I dream to be a peacemaker.
I dream ... I dream too much! LOL

What I exactly dream to be is actually a photographer and a broadcast journalist. The reason why is because I think this is something that I would enjoy and love to do. My parents have been asking me to make up my mind to choose the subject that I really wanted to study for my collage and I’ve been having a very hard time making my decision actually. Sigh! How I wish I can have both of this job together in my future! But of course I know, handling two jobs it's not an easy things. Anyway, your advise would be very much appreciated! :)

Bad day!

October 04, 2008

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

It's pretty funny that I've been singing "Bad Day" almost any time, any where these few days though I'm not actually having a bad day! LOL! But this entire week sure is busy! I've tried to finish up Twilight as soon as possible but I failed! I've tried to do more revision for my finals but I failed! I've tried to update this blog but I failed too (sorry!)!  Finals is just another two days away and I'm pretty sure that I'll be suffering from a major headache soon enough! Not a good thing, I know. I think I better get a good night sleep and study my heads off tomorrow! ><

For Sophie's wedding, Donna has invited her two lifelong best girlfriends--practical and no-nonsense Rosie (Julie Walters) and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tanya (Christine Baranski)--from her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own.

On a quest to find the identity of her father to walk her down the aisle, she brings back three men from Donna's past to the Mediterranean paradise they visited 20 years earlier. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on this lush island full of possibilities.

An interesting story line with awesome tunes, isn't it? Well, I was enjoying myself in the entire movie and singing along with the tunes. Yes, singing along! There's no one were besides me other than my sister. :P It was so awesome.

Meryl Streep definitely impress me. My picture of her is just like how she was in The Devil Wears Prada. While in Mama Mia! She's completely a different character. A very cute and hippy one. (fyi: I've never seen any of her past movies other than TDWP) & Not forgetting Pierce Brosnan! I've never seen him sing other than seeing him in action movies. He made me LOLed a little in the end of the movie. (you will get what I mean if you've seen the movie) :p

Anyway, again, check this movie out if you haven't. Is absolutely amazing and you will never regret! Trust me! You might as well wanna watch it for the second time or purchase the DVD home to watch it all day/night long! haha

Holiday!

September 26, 2008

Well, I'm having a week of holiday next week for the Hari Raya celebration. As the Muslims of our nation celebrate their New Year, the other races, like me will jump in at the opportunity to savour their festive delights :)

For your information: Hari Raya Aidilfitri (also Hari Raya Puasa, literally "Celebration Day of Fasting") is the Malay term for the Muslim festival of Eid ul-Fitr. Hari Raya is also known as Lebaran. Muslims in Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore celebrate Eid like other Muslims throughout the world. The term "Hari Raya" literally means "Day of Celebration" — it is also occasionally used to refer to Eid ul-Adha in the form of "Hari Raya Aidiladha". The main greeting used by Muslims in Malaysia and Singapore is "Selamat Hari Raya" which means "Happy Eid" in Malay. Another greeting is "maaf zahir dan batin" which translates loosely to "I seek forgiveness (from you) physically and spiritually", for Hari Raya is a time to reconcile and renew relationships with others.

So here are some of the MUST have delights during this festive season.

Ketupat.

Ketupat is made from rice that has been wrapped in a woven palm leaf pouch which is then boiled. As the rice cooks, the grains expand to fill the pouch and the rice becomes compressed. This method of cooking gives the ketupat its characteristic form and texture of a rice dumpling. Ketupat is usually eaten with rendang (a type of dry beef curry) or served as an accompaniment to satay

Lemang.

Lemang is a traditional food, originating with the Minangkabau people of Indonesia and Malaysia, which is cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaf to prevent the rice from sticking to the bamboo. Usually prepared for festivities such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Haji, lemang is made of glutinous rice and coconut milk, with salt added for taste. Some lemang recipes add corn. Lemang is usually eaten with rendang.

Dodol.

Dodol is made with coconut milk, jaggery, rice flour, and sometimes cashews, and is sticky, thick and sweet. It is mostly served during festivals such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Haji

& here's my favorite!

Rendang Chicken/Beef/Lamb!

Rendang is slowly cooked in coconut milk and spices for several hours until almost all the liquid is gone, allowing the meat to absorb the spicy condiments.

Yummy isn't it? If you got the chance to come to Malaysia, I recommand you to try Rendang Chicken, Beef or Lamb. It's taste like heaven and it's definitely a must try!

Until then! Selamat Hari Raya to all the Muslims and Maaf Zahir dan Batin :)

Is there actually...

September 25, 2008

Friends forever? I have absolutely no idea. It's pretty funny that I've always wonder will I still stay connected with my friends until we are like, 40 years old? haha.

Well, my friendship with two of my best friends seems pretty much like, so close yet so far now. We used to have all these fun times togerher. We gossip together, we karaoke our lungs out together, we shop together. We are basically like a package with different styles and personalities. We said we should stay connected always, no matter what. But now, we all have a different bunch of friends and we're just doing our own things always. We haven't been hanging out with each other since the month of May!

Seriously guys, if you're reading this, we really need to catch up with each other after our finals! I miss those days we spend together, badly! :(

Operator : Yes, you can speak to me.

Caller : No, I want to speak to Annie Wan (anyone)!

Operator : You are talking to someone! Who is this?

Caller : I'm Sam Wan (Someone). And I need to talk to Annie Wan (anyone)! It's urgent.

Operator : I know you are someone and you want to talk to anyone! But what's this urgent matter about?

Caller : Well... just tell my sister Annie Wan (anyone) that our brother Noel Wan (no one)has involved in an accident. Noel Wan (no one)got injured and now Noel Wan (no one) is being sent to the hospital. Right now, Avery Wan (everyone) is on his way to the hospital.

Operator : Look if no one was injured and no one was sent to the hospital, then the accident isn't an urgen t matter! You may find this hilarious but I don't have time for this!

Caller : You are so rude! Who are you?

Operator : I'm Saw Lee (Sorry).

Caller : Yes! You should be sorry. Now give me your name!!!
