Blast from your past

March 15, 2009

So today I was surfin' the net, as usual, and came across a random ad with music that happened to be Switchfoot.  Now, Switchfoot used to be one of my ultimate favourite bands, and I still LOVE their music to this day.  I just love when I can rediscover bands that I've maybe forgotten about for a while.

But anyway, that's why I'm posting, because I want to know what songs or bands have you found yourself rediscovering lately after you've "lost touch" with their music?

Can't wait to hear what you have to say!  Also, if you have any artists you think I might enjoy listening to, send 'em my way, if you please.  I love finding new music to listen to to help spice up my music library on iTunes. (:

PS.  I suggest Crash Kings--I really love their music.  (myspace.com/crashkings)

Welcome to this awkward first encounter!

February 23, 2009

One day when I was tweeting, twittering, (not twattering) or whatever you want to call it, I saw that The One Love was looking for more bloggers; here I am.

Sooo, hello!  I'm Veronica.  I'm sorry if you're reading this and you're already disappointed, but I'm just not as witty on blogs as some of my friends on here.  That's not the point, though.  The point is, I LOVE LOVE LOVE music, I love helping doing any part in philanthropy work that I can, and I like blogging.  That's why I joined TOL.

I guess I should tell you a bit about myself since you are here, using time out of your day to listen to me.  Well, I'm a 19-year-old stuck in a 28-year-old's body.  Now, wait a second, I'm no Benjamin Button!  I'm just trying to convey that I'm wise and mature beyond the few years of life I've lived.

Among family, friends & my faith, my biggest passion in life is my absolute undying love of MUSIC.  If I were to never fall in love or get married to the man of my dreams, I just may be content if I were to always have music around.
But anyway, so I'm 19, and I just finished my first semester of university back in December, and I decided to take a semester off.  Since then I've been actively pursuing experience and bigger jobs to do promotion/marketing and merchandise on tour with artists.  I've been in the talks with a handful of artists, and am just awaiting my golden opportunity to arise.  I know, you probably think I'm an idiot for giving away my education, but little did you know, I'm back with it by taking online classes while I'm pursuing my dreams.  Cheesy? Yes.  But, these are my dreams, so I don't mind haha.

So this is where I am in my life right now, and I'm fine with it.  I live my life by the motto of "Everything happens for a reason," and I know that if I just keep praying and doing my thing, God will make the right things happen for me.  (:

Besides learning who I am, I wanted to tell you about the organization I chose to support (it's over there <----- ).  The American Diabetes Association is the organization that I support because Diabetes has affected my life.  My mother was diagnosed a few years ago after a surgery she had that forced to remove almost all of her pancreas (the organ that produces your body's natural insulin), and little did we know, it actually runs in my family... on both sides.  Since then I've been on high alert with my doctor and family because since it does occur in our family, I need to be careful about watching my levels.  Even though they haven't completely diagnosed me with Diabetes, I have been feeling many of the symptoms, much more in the past year, and I just have to be as careful as ever.

Not only because diabetes affects my life do I care, but because I believe that diabetes is probably the most underrated disease that is overturning our country.  As of 2007, out of the 23.6 MILLION people in the US who had diabetes, 5.7 MILLION didn't even know they had it.  That's 5.7 MILLION people who were suffering with the symptoms, possibly close to death, who had no idea what was going on.

I believe that more needs to be done about educating the public about this disease, because it is obvious that that has not been done.  With Nick's unfortunate diagnosis in 2006, he fortunately brought a light to those suffering with the disease.  It's a bit sad when a public figure has to be diagnosed with the disease before the nation is even aware that such a thing exists.  Without being educated on the manner, how can anyone have the ability to fight against it, or try to fight for a cure?

These are the reasons why I want to fight to find a cure, and the first step is to get money to the ADA to find a way.  Thank you for visiting my blog, because your clicks are helping the fight, and thanks for listening.
