on and on, we keep going, crowded like subway cars

February 17, 2009

So. I've been taking a sabbatical of sorts from proper blogging for a long time. Unintentional, of course -- the writer in me has been itching to emerge from her cold, dark shell for a long time, but unfortunately, university applications and being an online game moderator has proven to be a major time parasite.

What have I been doing lately, other than sitting at my computer?

Two of my best friends have left for Australia; most recently, Terence leaving for Queensland this morning. Last week, it was a tidal wave of emotion. I was a trainwreck in the airport as Huai and I hugged our goodbyes, and yesterday was no different. Still, August will come soon enough, and my heart will be in one piece. I can't wait.

Oh, yes. The beach. Nothing can ever beat lounging on soft sand, Howie Day's "Collide" and the sound of the marriage of the waves and rocks, except maybe catching some blissful Zs after a two-day sleep draught.

I'd forgotten what it was like to actually relax, instead of constantly being on the go-go-go, like a broken record player.

I need that again.
