You make the call, you make my day

March 04, 2009

the opening lines of Butterfly is repeating over and over in my head right now, not giving me a rest and a chance to even stop and think back and revel in the fact that i just attended one of the most amazing concerts i ever had the chance to attend in my entire life.

Jason Mraz marks the First Concert of 2009, and it will definitely NOT be my last ;) what a first concert it was, too. Jason... well, Jason Mraz is in a class of his own. if it's even possible, he sounds even BETTER live than on CD; amazing, amazing improvisations, just the right amount of crowd interaction, and he hit all the notes, even the high ones. don't even get me started on his rap-singing in The Dynamo Of Volition; let's just say my jaw was literally on the floor. he had us all eating out of the palm of his hands, just grooving along to the music and getting swept away with the harmonious mixture of his voice, Toca Rivera's amazing percussion skills and the rest of the supporting band.

setlist, not in order (songs that i can remember that he sang off the back of my mind... Sylvia, help me here!!!):

Life Is Wonderful
Geek In The Pink
You And I Both (squealed when this one got played)
The Remedy
No Stopping Us
Make It Mine (which is now my new favorite song, thanks to one Geoffrey Yeow and the amazing Jason Mraz)
I'm Yours
Lucky (with some Malaysian singerchick who didn't do too bad at all!)
Butterfly
Live High
The Dynamo Of Volition
If It Kills Me
A Beautiful Mess
Wonderwall (Oasis cover, slipped in sneakily in between The Remedy, so so so so so goooooood damn it)

and probably a couple more but my mind is too meddled with to remember. for now, my bed beckons!

I’m not the person you want to meet. The music is. And the music is alive in you as much as it is in me. We created it together. Therefore, you already know me. We’ve already hugged and kissed. We grew close for a moment and then said our goodbyes.

It took my breath away.
